Support Groups  

Sometimes it helps to talk to other people who are experiencing the same feelings, frustrations and challenges as you. Whether you are a person who has dementia, a family member or a caregiver, we can help. Groups are led by Alzheimer Society's professional staff or trained volunteers.

Support Groups for People with Dementia

In Winnipeg, there are weekly groups available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Meetings are held at the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba's Provincial office at 10-120 Donald Street. Please call Janice at (204) 943-6622 for further details.

In Brandon, there is a weekly group available on Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba's Westman office at 613-10th Street. Please call Grace at (204) 729-8320 for further details.

Support Groups for Family and Friends

Group for Family & Friends of
People with Younger Onset Dementia

Group members must be caring for someone under the age of 65 with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. This teleconference group meets on the third Monday of each month from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Participants may also join the facilitators in person at Deer Lodge Centre Life and Learning Board Room, Second Floor 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg.

Caregiver Support Groups by Teleconference
Telephone based support groups meet on different days of the week and at a variety of times. Group participants use a toll free telephone service. For further information contact Janice Hebb, Client Service Coordinator at 943-6622 or

      A recent study revealed that one in 11 people over the age of 65 are living with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia.
