Learning new skills can help you face the daily realities of living with and caring for a person with Alzheimer's disease or another dementia - and it may help you better understand your own feelings.

We currently offer two programs to help families, the Living with Alzheimer's Disease workshops as well as Specialized Information Programs:

align box The workshop sessions bring together specialists providing practical information that will be helpful to people living with dementia; and to the family and friends who support them. This intensive, "how-to course" addresses many relevant topics including the physical, mental and emotional changes common in Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. 

This information will help you manage day to day activities and better understand changes as they occur. You will also receive information that will help you plan for upcoming decisions regarding legal, financial, and medical concerns that affect your future. Other topics include community resources, home care, the family perspective and remembering self-care.

Workshops are offered in Winnipeg and throughout the province at different times during the year. 

Here are the upcoming sessions: 

SEMINAR: Living with Alzheimer's Disease or other Dementias

There are two upcoming two-day workshops...

"Saturday, January 28 & February 4, 2012" &
"Saturday, May 5 & May 12, 2012"

The workshop presentations will be held on two consecutive Saturdays from 9 am - 2 pm. These sessions will be helpful to family and friends who support the person living with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia and costs $20/registrant (cost of materials).

The Alzheimer Society offers specialized information sessions for caregivers and families on a variety of topics such as Understanding Disability Tax Credit, Transitions in Care, Managing Day-to-Day, Driving Issues and Living through Change and Advanced Care Planning.  

These sessions will help provide valuable information and support for caregivers and families working through the ongoing challenges in living with and supporting someone diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or another dementia.
