Learn the latest on Alzheimer Disease research. The St. Boniface General Hospital Research Foundation has developed an 'in-house' neurodegenerative disorders research team. The Division of Neurovirology and Neurodegenerative Disorders (DNND) is working to determine mechanisms underlying, and identify potential treatments for, neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's disease.

A great resource for information about long term care in Manitoba, including frequently asked questions about personal care homes. Their mission is to encourage and support continuous pursuit of excellence in the quality of long term care to Manitobans. Their primary services are for their members however their focus extends to the whole long term care sector in Manitoba.

Learn about Alzheimer's disease and research updates from the Alzheimer Society's national organization. The site also includes contact information for Alzheimer Society provincial offices and chapters in Canada, links to international organizations, and a caregiver forum. To access the caregiver forum, click on forums and then message board.

Alzheimer Society of Ottawa:  www.alzheimerottawa.org 
The Alzheimer Society of Ottawa, in co-operation with the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, has prepared Dementia: A Guide for Faith Communities. The brochure discusses the spirituality needs of people with Alzheimer's disease and how one can assist a person with Alzheimer's disease to feel at ease in a congregational setting. Suggestions are made about how one might provide spiritual care one on one.

The Alzheimer's Disease Education & Referral Center (ADEAR): www.alzheimers.org
The Alzheimer's Disease Education & Referral Center (ADEAR) of the National Institute on Aging (USA) provides an online newsletter, Connections, that discusses current issues of concern to all care providers. This site also offers an online order form so that interested viewers may order printed copies of publications.

The Alzheimer's Disease International: www.alz.co.uk
The Alzheimer's Disease International site provides a variety of information with a global perspective. Publications are available on-line in Spanish and English and a caregivers booklet is available in eight additional languages.

Caregiver.com: www.caregiver.com
This site, edited by Gary Barg, provides a weekly online newsletter of interest to caregivers. Online subscriptions can be requested easily via a pop-up screen or on the site's home page. All articles are not specific to Alzheimer's disease, but articles are health related and are written in an easy to read manner.

The Caregiver's Beacon Newsletter is produced twice monthly and posted at this site. Viewers may subscribe and have the newsletter sent to them electronically. 

Dementia Advocacy and Support Network: www.dasninternational.org
This is the website of Dementia Advocacy and Support Network, a world wide organization by and for those diagnosed with dementia. The group was established to promote respect and dignity for persons with dementia.

This site has an Alzheimer Centre that is organized under the following features: Ask the Specialist, Practical Tips for Alzheimer Caregivers, Cope with Caregiving and Take Control. For those wishing to learn more about specific medications, there is a section where one may research.
