Brain Health

The human brain plays a role in every action and every thought, and just like the rest of your body, it needs to be looked after.

There is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s disease nor can its progression be reversed.  A healthy brain lifestyle has the potential to decrease the risk of developing Alzheimer’s or other dementias and may slow disease progression.

Reducing Your Risk

The human brain, sometimes called the “3-pound universe within,” is one of your most vital organs. It plays a role in every action and every thought, and just like the rest of your body, it needs to be looked after.. The Minds in Motion® program can help you to take charge of the risk factors that you can control.  This includes:

Challenge Your Brain
  • Keep your brain active every day. Studies show that regularly challenging your brain may reduce your chances of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
Be Socially Active
  • Staying connected socially helps you stay connected cognitively. Social interaction appears to have a protective effect against dementia.
Choose a Healthy Lifestyle
  • A healthy lifestyle is as important to brain health as it is to the rest of your body. Diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and obesity are all risk factors for dementia.
Take Charge:
  • Make healthy food choices
  • Be active
  • Track your numbers (know and keep blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and weight within    recommended ranges)
  • Reduce stress
