Your Pledge Dollars at Work

What we do with the money you raise for us

We rely on events such as the Investors Group Memory Walk to continue the important work that we do. Thanks to you, Memory Walks over Manitoba raised over $300,000 in 2014!

Funds raised through the annual Walk help provide the much-needed programs, services and a search for a cure for individuals and family members in Manitoba affected by Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. Currently, one in every three Manitobans has a family member or close friend with dementia.

It is projected that over the next 30 years the number of people living with dementia will almost double, further increasing the demand for supportive programs and services. It is essential that events like our annual Memory Walk are successful to allow us to meet the growing demands for our programs and services for Manitobans.

The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba provides a network of support and education for people living with dementia, their families and their caregivers, including:

  • Information about the disease
  • Individual and family counseling
  • Person-centred care strategies
  • Peer support groups
  • Caregiver support groups
  • Educational sessions and workshops for families
  • Educational sessions and workshops for professional caregivers
  • Awareness initiatives
  • Community outreach
  • Advocacy programs
  • Research funding
